PMB is an open-source intagrated library system available in several languages (french, english,…). It makes use of Apache, MySQL and PHP. It can be hosted on Windows, MacOSX or Linux computer. Users only need a webclient. PMB v2 provides the following modules : catalogue, circulation (loan), authorities, D.S.I., OPACweb,…). PMB is UNIMARC compliant.

St. Joseph’s Academy (SJA), Dehradun One of the oldest & best day schools in Dehradun decided to implement PMB Library Information System and to discard and discontinue with existing Library Software. SJA is in a process of migrating  into PMB library system. It will become fully operational before 15^th October 2009. There are around 27,000 Books whose data entry is in progress. They took bold decision without any hesitation as the previous Library Software was not upto the mark as per their requirements . Also, it was proprietary Software, and therefore there  was no scope to modify it. Moreover they found that PMB is having User friendly web interfaces for librarian and users.

PMB workshop, Bamako, Mali – report

PMB Information Library System

From 13 to 17 July 2009, 14 librarians from academic, scientific and public libraries from Bamako, Mali attended a workshop on the PMB library management system. The workshop was one of a series of three organized by the Malian Library Consortium (COMBI), the Malian Documentation Network (REMADOC) and the Malian AMULL. The objective of the workshop was to show participants how to catalogue documents, register library users, and manage circulation using PMB.

The Doon city is well known for education standards at the high school level. CJM (Convent of Jesus & Mary High School ) School is very well-known and among the best Schools in India. It is a Girls school. Recently, they have implemented PMB Information Library System and are very happy to manage their day to day library  activities using very economical & user friendly PMB Integrated library System.

Patrician College of Education, Rajpur Road, DehraDun (http://www.patriciancollege.in), the first college in  DehraDun to implement PMB Integrated Library  System.  They were quite familiar with the various library information management system. Initially they were insisting on KOHA. They did thorough detail study on PMB , which took them more than one month. According to them “PMB is very simple and easy to install. PMB is having the finest, easiest, flexible and interactive interface.  These are the basic qualities where KOHA lacks.   Both KOHA and PMB are based on  MySQL as backend database.  That’s why both are equally good for large library.  We are product to be first to implement PMB Library Software in Dehradun, perhaps in Northern India.”
